Michael J. Shaheen, the son of Addie Bedway Shaheen and William M. Shaheen is an Eastern Ohio native. Michael learned at a very young age an appreciation and respect for family, strong work ethic, and the people of the Ohio Valley. After high school, Michael attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania graduating in 1986 and subsequently graduating from the Capital University School of Law in Columbus, Ohio in 1989.
Following law school, Michael returned to the Ohio Valley. He began to build a law practice while assisting with the transition of a family owned coal business. Bedway Coal Company was founded by his mother and her two brothers, Toni Bedway and John Bedway.
After working with and becoming a partner in a local firm, Michael ventured out and established his own law office in 1997 which is now known as Shaheen Law Group. During his thirty plus years of practice, Michael has provided legal counsel to a wide variety of individuals, corporations, municipalities, and various other groups and businesses throughout Ohio. Previously, Michael served as the chairman of the Ohio Liquor Control Commission, assistant Belmont County Prosecutor and the Village Solicitor for Adena, Ohio. He currently serves as the Village Solicitor for both Bridgeport, Ohio and Bellaire, Ohio as well as the Chairman of the Belmont County Board of Elections.
