Greg C. Gorodetsky
Divorce Lawyers
Greg is Gorodetsky Law Group’s principal attorney. He founded the firm in 2002 and has been practicing as a trial lawyer ever since. Greg works tirelessly to provide clients with the best representation possible. His around-the-clock and diligent work ethic coupled with his 20 years of experience trying tough cases in New York City and New York State Supreme, Civil, Criminal, Surrogate, and Federal courts is what allows him to provide clients with effective representation that delivers results.
Greg’s 20 years of trial experience make him unique as an attorney, since many lawyers try but a few cases their entire careers. To date, Greg tried over one thousand cases, and his vast trial experience taught him how many New York judges contemplate and approach different types of cases as well as how they individually conduct their courtroom. This knowledge, which is only obtainable after years of trying tough cases for clients in the courtrooms of many New York judges, is advantageous for prospective clients, since Greg is prepared to and capable of adapting his representation to the styles of the New York judges assigned to his clients’ cases.
Greg is a diligent, compassionate, and dedicated attorney who cares deeply about his clients’ circumstances. He became a trial lawyer to help clients navigate through difficult times in their lives. If you are looking for a fierce, compassionate, and dedicated advocate with over 20 years of trial experience to represent you in your Supreme Family, Surrogate, Criminal, and Civil Court cases, look no further and call Greg for a consultation today.
Wendy B. Samuelson
Divorce Lawyers
My goal as a matrimonial attorney is to make things better for the family, not worse. I often recommend to a client who is going through a divorce to go to “divorce counseling,” so that the couple can work on treating each other with respect and making sure their children are not caught in the middle of their negative feelings. I am a resource to my clients, too, and help them not just get a divorce, but also make sure that their emotional and financial affairs are looked after too, by providing them with quality referrals to psychologists, accountants, trust and estate attorneys and financial advisors.
I am most proud of the Legal blog I developed on our website, which provides useful tips from authors, psychiatrists, and other professionals on how to best cope during and after divorce. This is something I do out of concern for my clients, and is a very different type of writing than my professional writing for the matrimonial bar, my column “Recent Legislation, Cases and Trends in Matrimonial Law” in The Family Law Review, published by the New York State Bar Association.
I practice Na’am yoga, a meditative practice that focuses on breathing exercises to maintain inner balance, sharpness and compassion. I often teach my clients, who are sometimes stressed and anxious, to learn easy breathing exercises, which helps calm them and allows them to focus on what’s really important.
At the initial consultation, I discuss with you strategic planning, including investigating and preserving hidden income and assets. I explain the legal process and what outcome you can reasonably expect if the matter is decided by the court. We discuss the pros and cons of going to trial, and whether settling the matter is in your best interest. While this may sound simple, there are many attorneys out there who fail to properly educate their client on reasonable solutions, and as a result, waste the client’s time and money.

Legal Paperwork and Procedures: A divorce involves a significant amount of paperwork, filings, and deadlines. A knowledgeable lawyer will ensure that all necessary documents are prepared correctly and submitted on time.
As for how divorce can be prevented, it’s important to note that preventing divorce is not always possible or advisable in every situation, as some marriages may be irreparably broken or unhealthy. However, there are steps couples can take to strengthen their marriage and address underlying issues:
Open Communication: Effective communication is crucial in any relationship. It’s important to listen to each other’s concerns and needs, and express your own in a respectful and constructive manner.
Seek Professional Help: Marriage counseling or therapy can provide a safe space to address and work through issues. A qualified therapist can offer guidance and tools to improve the relationship.
Quality Time Together: Spending quality time with your partner is essential for maintaining a strong connection. This can include activities that you both enjoy and that foster intimacy.
Prioritize Each Other’s Needs: Show consideration for each other’s feelings, needs, and aspirations. Make an effort to support and validate one another.
Set Realistic Expectations: Understand that no marriage is perfect, and both partners will have strengths and weaknesses. Be realistic about what can be achieved and work together to find solutions.
Mutual Respect and Trust: Respect for one another’s autonomy, boundaries, and trust is foundational to a healthy marriage. Building and maintaining trust requires consistency and open communication.
Address Conflicts Constructively: Disagreements are normal in any relationship. It’s crucial to address conflicts in a respectful and constructive manner, avoiding blame and hostility.
Ultimately, preventing divorce requires commitment, effort, and a willingness to work together as a team. However, if a marriage becomes unhealthy or abusive, seeking professional advice or considering separation may be necessary for the well-being of all parties involved.
