ERICA COLON
Worker Compensation Lawyer
Erica Colon prides herself on a tireless dedication to high-stakes, complex matters that other attorneys may shy away from. It’s no wonder she ranks among the state’s top attorneys with accolades like Super Lawyers (Rising Stars 2016-2023) and U.S. News and World Report Best Lawyers (Ones To Watch 2021-2023).
Erica feels a particular kinship with workers, children, and families. This draws her to represent and advocate passionately for those who have been wronged. As a plaintiff’s trial attorney at The Perecman Firm, P.L.L.C., she concentrates her legal practice in all aspects of personal injury law, including car accidents, workplace injuries, premises liability, and construction accidents.
Throughout her career, Erica has put that passion to use securing an impressive record of multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of her clients in matters before the New York State Courts and the Federal District Courts of New York for the Eastern and Southern Districts, and she is also an active member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
You might wonder where such dedication to the practice of law developed. Erica’s career began to take shape as something exceptional even before leaving law school. She worked as a student attorney at her university’s legal clinic and as a law clerk for a prominent plaintiff’s law firm in NYC during her summer breaks, earning that “Machine” nickname by working through the rest period and focusing her legal practice in the areas of medical malpractice and toxic tort.
Right after graduating, Erica hopped aboard a large national plaintiff’s firm, and dove into a challenging and passion-stirring project representing individuals nationwide against multinational corporations who suffered life-threatening illnesses and diseases caused by workplace exposure to asbestos and other toxic products. Here, she refined her skills as a litigator, conducting and defending depositions, advocating for clients in the courtroom, undertaking investigations, and developing a profound understanding of the pain and suffering her clients and their families endured.
In 2015, Erica transitioned to a prominent NYC-based personal injury law firm where she took on a new skill set, representing clients that suffered personal injuries resulting from automobile, premises liability, construction, and workplace accidents.By the time we were lucky enough to bring Erica on board here at The Perecman Firm in 2018 as a trial attorney, she had a whole host of remarkable skills and expertise remarkably well suited for our practice areas. Beyond that, she has an unmatched compassion for justice, dedication to her craft, and unending font of energy that works tirelessly for her clients and in the name of seeking justice.
